Guess what happened to me today.

I had a little fender bender! I'm so pissed too! I was about 50 ft. from my work building when a  young punk pulled out of a parking lot in front of me. My car had little damage(a black streak & busted hub cap) but his was a little more banged up. He was driving one of those little low riding pieces of crap young kids like to drive. Anyways, I'm pretty sure I'm not at fault but apparently this kid does. I have to deal with my insurance company tomorrow & give them my side of the story. I really hate kid drivers!

I'm sorry to hear about that - are you okay?  Did you call the police to check things out?  My insurance company told me that's what I should always do.

Yeah I'm fine D aside from being really aggitated. I did call the police too. However, since no one was hurt & both vehicles were still drivable, the operator said it was non reportable! WTF!? I think this kids was high too. He sure looked it to me anyways. And get this, he has the nerve to ask me "So what should we say to the insurance company?" I guess he was hoping I would say "Oh don't worry about it, I'll just say it was my fault!" F*cking dingbat! And then he tells me he had just been involved in another accident! HOLY SHIT!

The fact that he'd just been involved in another accident (on top of his age and gender - insurance companies DO look at that stuff) will definitely work against him.  I'm sure you will be fine.  Hey, at least he HAS insurance!  I've dealt with people who didn't, and wanted me to send my car to some shade-tree mechanic "buddy" of theirs.  Uhhhh.... no.  I take my car to MY mechanic and send them the bill for whatever he charged.  And if the other person is a real **** about it, I would make sure to tell my mechanic to slap a big fat tip for himself on the bill.  LMAO.

I'm not too worried about it D. I've thought about all those things too. But he's a young twirp that thinks because I hit him, he'll get megabucks out of the deal. Good luck is all I have to say. Last I knew, if you pull out of a parking lot or away from a curb in front of someone, it's your fault not the person who hit you.

UPDATE!

Well I guess I can truely relax now. I got a letter from his insurance company yesterday. Apparently they believe it was his fault! DUH! They want me to get 3 estimates for my damages but here's the problem. I really don't think all thats necessary! I mean it's only a hubcap & a scuff mark! So does anyone know if I have to do this?

Yes, unfortunately, it's necessary.  They have to get different estimates because they want to make sure you're not just taking it to the most expensive mechanic in town to fleece them.  They will look at all three estimates and choose the one that is most reasonable.  So make sure to pick three mechanics that seem trustworthy and professional.

When I was in college, a co-worker broadsided my car in the parking lot of my job and did a LOT of damage to the whole side (she hit it HARD - so hard that I couldn't open the driver's side door).  Her insurance required that I do the same thing.  It was funny, because all three estimates were about the same, over $1000 each.

Yeah but I don't want to persue his insurance at all! I even told my insurance company that. So I have to? I don't have any choice at all!?

If you want this to be settled promptly, then unfortunately you have to play by their rules.  I know it sucks.  I hate dealing with insurance, but this is how things are done

Once I had 2 kids in the car in front of me who stopped short and I rear ended them.  They went on to the concert we were all going to (Ozzy - don't ask) and I saw them head banging away all night (because I was the only sober person there I think).

The 2 guys then tried to tell my insurance co that they sustained neck injuries and couldn't go to work for 8 days : at $400 per day.  Dumb bunnies tried to scam us big time but were so stupid about it.  Luckily, my ins didn't raise my rates at all but did have to pay for their car damage.  We didn't have any car damage so I don't know what they were talking about.

I like Ozzy!

But anyways, I'm so glad that that worked out for you. I mean it did & it didn't. You had to pay for the car but atleast you didn't have to pay for some boggus neck injuries! What f*cktards!
