RE: The Fashion Thread (or, "Pimp Yo Fine Azz in Style")

Am I the only one who is having trouble finding a decent purse?

I'm very selective about my purses, just like my shoes... I'm looking for sleek, elegant and sexy.  Simple designs, small to medium-sized, leather or matte satin.  I can also possibly do denim or even cotton, but it must be a tight weave and with no garish embellishments.  I don't do straw, plastic, shiny, glitter, sequins, flowers, buttons, buckles and most patterns.  Stripes are OK, but I'd prefer something with no pattern at all.

Oddly enough, it seems that the simpler the design, the harder it is to find.  I had no trouble locating big straw bags with plastic flowers attached to the front, but an elegant little red purse with a long, thin shoulder strap to go with my shoes?  Nah.  Fugghetaboutit.

I'm thinking the kind of purse I want is actually a bit retro.  At this point, I am totally psyched about my new "image".  For a long time, I have been hankering for an "image" but had nothing to shoot for.  Nothing really seemed to fit me or my natural attributes.  Perfect is the ultimate MILF, Sinclaire has the librarian thing going on, but it's a hot librarian, the kind that makes 7th grade boys get woodies under the table.  Cheripits has the wild Southern nature gal image, Kimmy and Ella are Hollywood party girls.  But what am I?  Nothin'.  Sinclaire tried pinning the librarian thing on me too, and while it does fit nicely with my glasses (which are an albatross around my neck because I can't get rid of them) I have a penchant for miniskirts and glamour, which has no real place in the librarian world.

Finally, one day not too long ago, I was debating on whether or not to grow my hair out (men are supposed to find long hair more appealing, but it doesn't really suit my features) and found myself looking online for a good "in between" style to shoot for.... then I saw a picture of Marilyn Monroe.  She had short hair!  I totally didn't realize this until I started looking for more pictures of her.  For most of her career, her hair was above her shoulders... and since I already have naturally thick, wavy hair, it might be a hairstyle I could pull off!

At this point, I had an epiphany... big boobies... long legs... with a little work, I could totally pull off a modern sweater girl/pin-up image!  I even have the cat's eye glasses to go with it!  The clouds parted and the angels sang!  All my prayers were answered!

Just be you Trace! A smart, talented gal with a wonderful sense of humor and big jugs!!! lol. (just teasing you)

But honestly, I'm flattered (I think) of the way you imagine me. I never thought about an image. I just be me, whatever that is. I know that I am in person, loud and over the top, will say anything and I dress to a drummer of my own beat. I wear what I like regardless of what is out in the mags. Not that I don't keep an eye out for what everyone else is doing. I LOVE the "boho" look right now. I have always worn animal print and wild clothes since forever, so I thought it was pretty funny when animal print became so popular the last couple years.....lol. I probably should have someone kidnap me and force me into a makeover like I see on TV. I still wear alot of makeup and my hair has had the same style (or lack of style) for the last 20 yrs. I look like all my pictures no matter when they were taken......lol. (except for my weight)

Awww just keep hangin' in there, your day will come! Hell, I've kissed many a toad and I still don't think I have a real "prince" yet. What will happen .......will happen regardless of what we do......lol.

I know these words don't help you Trace, but I've heard it all my life. "Love comes when you don't look for it". Even Nic says he wasn't looking when he ran into "what's her damn name". Chit happens man, and someday yours will too......lol. Just keep yourself busy while your exercising patience.

I'm not looking for love... I'm just looking for fun.  For some reason, everyone thinks I'm holding out for this Prince Charming thing, when in reality I just want to have a good time with someone who doesn't have issues.  Oh, and I want to be sexy.

Those are awesome!  I love the first one... my hair has a cowlick that does that thing where it lifts on the side.  Those are cute pics!

I love the pics Kimmy. Ya'll know that she wasn't a small woman, right? She wore a sz 14. Bless her heart. She made having curves so "in".

Actually, that's just an urban legend of sorts.  Sizes back then were different than they are now.  In reality, Marilyn wore a modern size 8-10.  The labels on her dresses ranged from 12-14, but it was completely different.

Did you try that Newport News D? They have some pretty cute purses. Unless you need it right away, I'd say give them a look.
