Vent your frustrations here!

OK, so before I start, let me just say that my brother's girlfriend is actually a really nice girl.  But to me she is just a tiny bit TOO nice.  She is a very tender, lovey-dovey, fragile, giddy, giggly, 4'11" baby doll stuffed with lots of pretty pink clouds and lotsa love kind of girl.  She gets hurt soooooooo easily and gets sooooooooo emotional and she just loooooooooooves my baby brother for making her soooooooooo happy.  And she has this incessant need to chat and chat and chat and CHAT with the whole family... for no good reason... except to tell all of us how much she looooooooooooves my brother and misses him soooooooooo much.

Right now she is telling me about what happened when my brother visited her for Xmas this year.  A Christmas decoration on the wall fell and hit her head.  OK, I can see where that might hurt, and I could see where it might be serious (turns out she was fine) but this is what she had to say about it (regarding my brother's reaction):

"he told me that it broke his heart to see me hurt and crying.  the next day I was showing him how heavy the plaque was and when I put it back it fell over and hit me on the top of my foot OW again"

OMG... jumpin' Cheez Whiz crackers, why didn't you hang it back up a little better?  Or better yet, not hang it back up at all?  (smacks head against computer desk).  I'm not trying to sound insensitive, but it's just the whole "OOOH, HE IS MY KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR, MY PRINCE CHARMING, AND I AM HIS GUSHING LITTLE BABY DOLL THAT SHALL SIT UPON HIS SHOULDER AND RIDE INTO THE SUNSET ON HIS ALABASTER STEED" thing.

It's really just too much.  The PDA I was exposed to when she came down to visit was enough to curdle my stomach.  And now she's telling me that her family looooooooves him and said they would be happy to have him as a son in law and "she was so happy she almost cried".  Ew.

Maybe I feel this way because I've never been in love and don't understand

Stop right there! I already have an affinity for little bitty tiny little doll like girls. I hope I don't offend any other "harlots" in here, but I hate them....lol (because I am so far from NOT being one of them!!!!!!)

And she talks like a 5 year old.

"Zio's is my favorite place to eat in OK so far...so yummy in my tummy!!!"

OMFG... OMFG.  And my parents have given her a nickname.  "Little Bit".  This is actually a family name, given to her by her uncle.  My parents have never given ME a nickname, even when I was a little kid.  But we're supposed to call her "Little Bit"?  They don't even call her by her name anymore... now we refer to her as if she's a poodle.  Or a candy bar.

I'm not trying to sound like a bitch.  But at this point, it's not even a matter of trying.

Sounds like she just loves attention too. I just wonder why guys are soooo drawn to the appeal of having a "girlchild" for a g/f??? Just like my favorite actor, why a half pint woman over a full grown broad???...lol Go figure!

I totally understand... you are talking to someone who wasn't a little doll like girl even when she WAS a little girl.  I was never overweight, just very tall and mature-looking for my age.  I grew up always being compared to the cutesy little baby doll ones, watching them tumble and hop about in gym class and struggling to keep up because my legs and arms were so much longer than theirs and I couldn't move as gracefully.

Adding to this was the fact that, because I looked older and acted more mature (my upbringing, and also because I'm a moody little git by nature), I was treated like I was much older and dissuaded from doing little girl stuff, even by my parents.  I  think they just wanted me to grow up more quickly, LOL.  I couldn't wear what was in style for girls because I was too tall and (starting in fourth grade) big-chested... I had to wear women's clothing.  Yes, my childhood was WEIRD.  Grown men hitting on me (when I was 11) in the drugstore because they honestly thought I was in my late teens - early 20's.  You can just imagine how my mother reacted to THAT.

So all this pent-up resentment of cute petite girls eats at me too, and I have to work extra hard to be nice to her.  She really is a nice woman, and my brother's crazy about her, but every time I look at her I'm reminded that she is what I always wanted to be, and is experiencing the feelings I've always wanted to experience.

"there is nowhere I would rather be than in his arms"

Oh, ****.  Someone shoot me between the eyes.  NOW.

I can't keep feeling this way about her.  We're pretty sure they're getting married this next summer.  That's where it appears to be going.  I'm not a bad person, I'm NOT!!  I know a lot of it is jealousy and the reminder of deep-set self-esteem issues.  She'll make a great wife... but why does she have to be so... so.... sweet?  Can't she just toughen up a little?  Not be quite so openly emotional?  She's telling me all of this stuff like I'm her diary... her pink furry diary with little kitty cat stickers and rhinestones and glitter on the pages.  I don't even know her that well yet!!

Hard to say, really.  I mean, eventually they (and I include my brother in this... he is almost as bad as her  ) will run out of steam and settle into a slow boil.  It's inevitable, right?  Nobody can keep up this kind of momentum.

I really don't see her being a bitch, EVER.  I don't think she would ever swing that far.  It appears that she is truly and honestly like this... she is so completely different from our family in so many ways.  For example, her family is really REALLY into Christmas.  They are holiday JUNKIES.  They decorate every. single. room. of their home... including the bathrooms.  We, on the other hand, have not decorated at ALL in several years.  We don't even exchange gifts anymore.  To us, Christmas is more of a hassle and annoyance than anything else.  It sounds terrible, but it's true.

We know that, if they get married (and they probably will - she's already moving down here in July to be with him, and they're looking at houses near his job), we will have to start incorporating the holiday thing into our lives to make her more comfortable.  She would not be happy with the idea of her in-laws and sister-in-law eating Chinese for Thanksgiving and watching Johnny Knoxville movies at Christmas.

I've never seen it happen D. My brother & sister-in-law can be gushy too but they have their problems & thank god she's not like your future sis-in-law. She can be a real bitch when she wants!

I've known other people that can turn on a dime like that.  They annoy me.  I say, keep it real!  You're a bitch, you KNOW you're a bitch... wear it like a badge of honor 24/7.  Be loud and proud!

My brother is very sweet, gentle and passive.  They are BOTH that way.  Very "yin" energy.  Wonder how this relationship will work out?  They are two bundles of marshmallowy emotional goodness.  One of them is bound to get roasted sometime.

Strangely enough, if anyone saw my brother in a bar or a dark alley, they would be VERY nervous.  He's 6'8", about 275 lbs.  Big, broad-shouldered, lanky guy... and a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.  But he's as gentle as a kitten.  Kids love him.

Actually, he DOES grow a 'stache occassionally.  And the 5 'o clock shadow to match.

He looks a lot like Ewan MacGregor in the first "Star Wars" prequel.

your "sis-in-law" sounds like my mother-in-law.  Very fake and super annoying.  "Cold drink?  Can I get you anything?  How did you sleep?  What did you have for dinner?  Etc...."  Calls my husband everyday and questions everything I do.  For obvious reasons, we didnt tell her about my new"twins".  Treats everyone like a baby = helicopter parent to everyone, even her sisters.

Just be thankful you don't have a weekly dinner with her!  If she makes your brother happy, then try to remember that every time you have to spend time with her.  Good luck honey, we're here for you!!

Thanks.  I'm gonna need it.  Despite my mother's protesting, they are barging full-steam ahead, MUCH faster than they were ever supposed to... in the beginning, it was all "Oh, we won't talk about marriage for at least a year.".  Oh, horse****.  They are already looking at houses, and she's moving down in July.  And they've only known each other a few months, maybe 4-5.  My mother now says that sometimes a person just knows when they've found the right one and she understands why things are moving so quickly.  Sigh.

Oh that IS horse****! How could you possibly decide that someone is "the one" in a couple months!? UGH that upsets me so much! You can't possibly know a person enough after a couple of months to go ahead & start making big plans like that!
