Yeah, it's not really factual at all, but it's a lot of fun to watch. I would have liked this movie even if it didn't star Nic. I'm one of those people that tears apart every movie I see that has "historical basis" - it drives me crazy to see something represented in a time period that simply did not exist, for example. In "Tombstone", it showed them playing pool but billiard tables would not have been introduced until at least 10 years later at the World Fair. I was dating a guy at the time, and he threw a fit because I just HAD to point this out while we were watching it. LMAO.

I love ancient Egypt, too. It's so deep, mysterious and compelling to me.

I'm very intrigued by it D. All their beliefs & rituals. Not to mention the stories of curses, and magical spells. Mysterious indeed. It's too bad that so many robbers & "treasure hunters" destroyed alot of the texts writen. There's definetly alot to that culture.
What do you think of Greek mythology D? I have a book that covers alot of different cultures including Egypt, Rome, Greek, and even Viking. Anyways, the Greeks have some very facinating stories. Unfortuantely they were never written. Rather just passed down through story telling. So as you can imagine everyone had their versions. I really like the one about Narsisus (sp.?) and Echo.

Oh, I'm all about Greco-Roman history and mythology... very, very cool. I used to have a book called "Everyday Life Through The Ages". It covered everything from clothing to food to caste systems for a variety of ancient cultures, including both Egypt and Greece. I think I sold that book or gave it away or something... or maybe not? I'll have to look for it. Anyway, it was fascinating reading.

If I ever have one, I would want a Siamese. I'd name her Bast.

Purty! I love cats! If I ever have one, I would want a Siamese. I'd name her Bast.
I like that D. Anubis was SUPPOSED to be female or so I was told by the person I got him off of. At first I named "her" Isis. Till I had "her" on "her" back rubbing "her" belly. Apparently my friend can't tell a male from a female.
The "King Tut" exposition just pulled into Ft. Lauderdale and is jammed packed right now. I am hoping to go see all those wonderful artifacts when it dies down a little. I watch all that stuff on "National Geographic" and "Discovery" on TV. I find it totally fascinating, but I am not a history buff.

Your so lucky Cheri. I have no idea if it will come my way. Maybe it already has for all I know.
Usually that cool stuff goes to St. Louis and Chicago, we get skipped. I'm not a buff, I just love history about everyday people and their cultures/beliefs. I miss my old house because it had many different little rooms and each was a different culture - a big world history lesson.

That sounds really neat! If I ever strike it rich(not holding my breath here)I'm gonna do my house something like that. My living room will have an Egyptian theme. My dining room will be strictly Medevil(dragons, knights & such) And my kitchen I think I would like to do with a celestial flare. I definetly want to add some Greek in the mess somewhere. Maybe for the stair case instead of a plain old boring banister, I'll have pedistals with busts of the gods on top.
I wanna do a whole house in Art Deco. Architecture, furniture, decor, everything.

Art Deco: clean, geometric lines... sleek and futuristic. Popular from about 1918 - 1935. Your grandmother probably had a curio cabinet, radio or even a sofa in the Art Deco design.
Examples of Art Deco architecture: Art Deco decorations (mirror, clock, window)
