I have discovered that one of our posters is getting their jollies from lying and deceiving people... more specifically, they are sharing the same IP address as another poster, and logging on here only to misinform and trick others. At this moment, I'm not inclined to share the whole story until I get more information, but here is what I do know...
If someone comes on here trying to say they know the address to Nic's MySpace page, DO NOT BELIEVE IT. Especially if they refer you to "nkc1964"... this site is set to private, and now you have to provide a valid last name or email address to join, but just a few days ago it had a general private setting. However, I was quickly accepted as a "friend", only to be bombarded with strange, personal, overly charming messages meant to get more information out of me... it started with where I live, but quickly escalated into attempts to find out my actual name. Obviously, I didn't fall for any of it. Funny how, once I made it clear that I wasn't saying a word, I was suddenly cut off from the profile. Isn't that a strange coincidence? Hmmmm... at any rate, I am here to let everyone know that there will be changes to the site. Now all potential members will be screened before being allowed to join.
I'm sick of the drama, harassment and lies. If this childish nonsense doesn't stop soon, I'm shutting down this board altogether.

It appears that not one but FIVE of the posters that have signed on with us in the past few months share the same IP. Well, that does it. The forum is now being heavily moderated, and I'm doing a little research on the side on a couple of other people that I suspect have been spreading the bull**** around here for quite some time... until now I didn't say anything because it was all fun and games, but when you have someone go as far as to take on an alternate identity and try to trick people into giving out personal information about themselves... well, that's just going too far. Call me paranoid, but I don't appreciate that.
I have never, EVER lied about myself on this board. One of the other posters here knows me personally, and three others have spoken with me on the phone on more than one occasion. I have nothing to hide. Hopefully nobody else does either.

Good work "D"!!! Apparently they are someone not from the "core" group when this site was first founded. I guess that I'm lucky, being no one talks to me other then on the threads. No one has ever asked me anything personal. I'm glad we have you here to look after the site for us. Thanks "D"!

I spoke with the main person in question last night on MySpace... she finally confessed to being behind the profile. She claims she got the other poster's IP from a library computer and decided to play a joke, just for kicks. But what she doesn't realize (or assumes that I don't realize) is that an IP is not something you can copy and paste into a program to conceal your identity. It isn't something that you can use for any purpose. An IP is simply a string of numbers that shows the network path between one computer and another. So you can't "use" it or "copy" it. Obviously this person thinks I'm an imbecile. Hey, maybe I am. I should have been checking things more diligently
At any rate things should be cool for now.
