Sounds like THIS interview didn't go so hot. Got this off Google Groups.
MAGGIE Gyllenhaal rubbed reporters the wrong way at the junket for Oliver Stone's "World Trade Center" at the Regency the other day. Still smarting from the reaction to her 2001 comments - "I think America has done reprehensible things and is responsible in some way [for 9/11]" - she steered clear of politics. But one journo called her "a nightmare" because she also refused to discuss her pregnancy. Meanwhile, co-star Nicolas Cage was finished when "an idiot from Sweden asked him about the 'controversy' of his being married to a much younger lady [Alice Kim]."
Whassamatta, Nicky?? Don't you have the mental strength to back up your conviction that "age doesn't matter"?

it must get tiring for him to always defend his personal choices don't you think? and if he is as unhappy as some of us has heard he is he has to constantly lie and pretend to be happy in public which has to be tiring to
This is true. Also, if that appearance was to talk about the film, I imagine it would have been quite annoying to have to answer questions about your personal life instead.
I wonder if he ever predicted marrying Alice would generate this kind of response in his fans?

I am guessing that when you bring up his personal life, he would get upset because thats personal to him. But then again, there are older interviews where he seems to have no problem talking about his personal life. Tom Cruise has been known to walk away from interviews if something too personal gets brought up unappropriately. It probably caught him offguard. And yes it probably does upset him that there is controversy surrounding his marriage. Maybe he had thought that since he married a waitress, people would have seen it like a fairytale and admired it.

Okay, so he didn't want to talk about Alice, but why end the interview because one dumb person wasn't a mind reader and asked a question they didn't know they weren't supposed to ask?
He's an actor, couldn't he have prepared an answer? Like "I almost feel guilty for having a great marriage when so many lost their spouses in the towers." That would have sufficed.
