good PR

My son is autistic and tends to have obsessive traits so he wanted to write a letter to Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe.  Sometimes it's easier to go along with it, so we did and I mailed it off 4 months ago to England.

2 weeks ago, my son recieves a letter and a hand signed picture from Daniel.  How freaking awesome is that?!!!!!  This kid is 16, yet takes the time to sign pictures between doing movies, his studies, promos, and being a normal kid.  That boy has a wonderful personality and is very kind.

On the other hand, if you write to Nic through Annette, his PR person, your letter will be returned with "Return to Sender" written on the front.  You can't even pretend he may have accidently read the letter - it's thrown right back at you because you aren't worth Nic's time.  Nic may want to rethink how he treats his fans.  Burn the letters, but don't return them.  That is just plain RUDE.

It torked me off at first when it happened, but after seeing how a 16 year old young man is more polite with his fan mail, I'm not too happy with Nic's camp right now.

and no, I've never written to any other celebrity.  After getting shot down by Nic, I didn't want to subject my son to that and was very hesitant about the whole thing.  Glad I did it after all because it really made his day to get mail from England and his favorite "friend".  I'm having the letter, picture, and envelope framed for him.

How cool is that!!! That's awesome for your son.

Not to make excuses for Nic, but I have to say that a 16 yr old and a 42 yr old with a wife and a new baby, and a teenage son, and many projects going, and producing have the same kind of time, or any spare time for that matter.

I also can't help but wonder who has more fans? Sorry Sinclaire, but I don't think the 2 can be compared, Nic's been at this alot longer. I guess he can "spare" a few fans. I remember when he used to say "if it weren't for his fans, he wouldn't be where he is". I guess he makes up for it by taking the time to sign autographs when asked. What can I say?

Well, we COULD say that he has people who could open his mail for him... I mean, to completely reject the letter without even opening it?  At the very least, one of his many lackeys could have sent a cheesy form letter back.  Nobody expects a celebrity to send a handwritten note, but to just reject the letter?  That seems kind of cold to me.  Sinclaire checked the address... it was correct.  So why would it be rejected?

I haven't checked the stats lately, but Harry Potter is pretty darn popular.  I'm not saying Nic has to personally write back to everyone, just not reject those who actually are hanging with him.  A form letter and promo pick would suffice.  Yes, he's well known, but not on the top of many lists - lord knows why, but he isn't - he tops mine!

I'm just saying I don't care for his PR tactics.  And I don't believe he doesn't know what is going on either.  He's busy because he chooses to be.  He's the boss and tells his PR group what to do.
