May 4: First pics from GHOST RIDER!

You never know what’s going to come in via e-mail, and lo and behold, Fango got the first peek today at Columbia’s upcoming GHOST RIDER, the movie based on the Marvel comic about a cursed hell-rider named Johnny Blaze (played in the film by Nicolas Cage). The shot above depicts what happens when you cross the film’s villain, Blackheart; the pics below show Blaze/Cage in his non-flaming skull visage, palling around with sidekick Mack (Donal Logue of BLADE). Wes Bentley of THEY portrays Blackheart, and Eva (URBAN LEGENDS: FINAL CUT) Mendes, Peter (RACE WITH THE DEVIL) Fonda and Sam (FROGS) Elliott also appear in the February 7, 2007 release directed by DAREDEVIL’s Mark Steven Johnson. Watch for an exclusive set visit to the Australia/Vancouver-lensed GHOST RIDER in the pages of Fango later this year.

Yeah, OK, I knew it was him, but didn't have the last name quite right. That guy's pretty funny (he's a comedian... I'm surprised they have him in a role like this). Maybe I will like this movie after all! The flaming skull freaked me out, though, and I'm not afraid to admit it. Fire kind of scares me, when it involves human flesh and bones and stuff. But maybe this will be OK, since it doesn't actually hurt him.

I bet you will like it. But that guy looks really creepy (look at his skinny arms!!!) Between this one and "Wicker Man" (horror flic) we'll be having nightmares instead of lovely dreams of our boy Nic...lol.

I did some reading up on the original "Wicker Man". In most places it's listed under "horror" films. But here's one description;

Movie description

A notoriously troubled production notwithstanding, the controversial cult classic THE WICKER MAN is now regarded as a classic of British cinema. Edward Woodward stars as Sergeant Howie, a naive young police officer sent to Summerisle, a secluded island off the coast of Scotland, to investigate the disappearance of a young girl named Rowan. When he arrives there, he finds a very tight-knit community that is mistrustful and hostile to outsiders. No one is willing to even acknowledge Rowan's disappearance. Soon, Howie begins to realize that the town might, in fact, be a strange pagan cult, one given to unbridled sexuality and possible human sacrifice. Seeking an audience with the oddly civilized Lord Summerisle (Christopher Lee), Howie hopes to get to the bottom of the mystery, but instead he finds something more shocking than he could have ever imagined. Ghost Rider Teaser Trailers Hit!

Sony Pictures has unleashed the new domestic and international teaser trailers for Ghost Rider in QuickTime formats at Apple! Written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson, and starring Nicolas Cage, the comic book adaptation will be released in theaters on February 16, 2007.

In order to save his dying father, young stunt cyclist Johnny Blaze sells his soul to Mephistopheles and sadly parts from the pure-hearted Roxanne Simpson, the love of his life. Years later, Johnny's path crosses again with Roxanne, now a gogetting reporter, and also with Mephistopheles, who offers to release Johnny's soul if Johnny becomes the fabled, fiery Ghost Rider, a supernatural agent of vengeance and justice. Mephistopheles charges Johnny with defeating the despicable Blackheart, Mephistopheles's nemesis and son, who plans to displace his father and create a new hell even more terrible than the old one.

Wes Bentley, Eva Mendes, Matt Long, Sam Elliott, Peter Fonda, Donal Logue, Mathew Wilkinson and Daniel Frederiksen co-star.

I heard Feb 16, 2007 for a release date....not really a Valentine movie is it? But I guess if he's willing to sell his soul to the devil for his true love, then it could be romantic in a way. (okay, I was going to say something here about his current wife, but I'll refrain)

I dont' know the exact moment in this movie for the kiss, but only based on the pic here, does it look to you like he isn't really into this? Kind of like Lord of War....there, doing the script, but not portraying the passion.

He only does this crap for his movies THANK GOD! Around town he lets it all go. No fake hair. And doesn't seem to be bothered by it unless he hides that too! I do see him wearing alot of hats but sometimes he just lets it all go. I like that!
