How was everyone's Christmas?

I'm still beat here. Between making the dinner, which didn't turn out too bad, family, & kids, I'm ready for a vacation! The kids made out really well this year. TOO WELL! I have no idea where I'm putting all this crap! I also didn't do too bad. My older brother got me a curio cabinet for my egyptian collection & my baby brother & sister-in-law bought me some more egyptian goodies. So I'm happy, but thank god it's over!

Oh, that's wonderful!

My Christmas was... uneventful.  We didn't exchange gifts (we normally don't).  My brother is spending Christmas with his girfriend in Texas, so it was just my parents and me.  We were going to have Chinese, but some of the Chinese restaurants that are normally open were closed this year.  So we tried TGIF... no luck.  1 hour wait.  We ended up at Denny's, and I HATE DENNY'S.  Food was awful, service was awful... then we went to the movies.  I wanted to see "Fun With Dick and Jane" but my dad wanted to see "The Ringer", so we ended up doing that.  It sucked too    At least I thought so.

I would say that it was worth it to spend time with my family, but I do that a lot anyway.  So I guess I was a Grumpy Grinch this Christmas.  Adding to the fact that I feel especially alone this year knowing that my brother is with his girlfriend just added a new facet to it all.

I'm glad the whole thing is over with.

I honestly think I enjoyed my first Christmas alone D. No stress from a significant other. Well maybe I feel that way because my ex put me through so much **** even during the holidays! I was surprised that it didn't bother me to see my brother & sister-in-law so happily in love. In fact, I think this alone time is what I needed.

I actually had a surprisingly good Christmas this year. My daughter and the kids came by Xmas Eve and took me to eat at a resturant at the Hard Rock Cafe. Then my best friend and her daughter met us at my house and we opened all our gifts. I got lucky and everyone really truly liked all that I bought for them.

Christmas day my daughter always goes and spends time with my late husbands family. She has a very large family from that side. They invited me over too. I went and ended up getting so many gifts and food to bring back that it took help and a couple trips to carry it all to my car. Then the day after my little granddaughter went with me to see my Mom in the nursing home.

This was my last Christmas having to be alone and it wasn't all that bad. I hope next year's will be even better since I will be part of a couple again.

Having to spend Xmas solo (by that I mean, no partner) really sucks, doesn't it?  And New Years' Eve is even worse.  I'm not really looking forward to it.

I ought to go into a liquor store and say, "What would you recommend for a woman who doesn't drink very much... but has a good reason to on New Year's Eve?".  LOL.

New Year's alone just totally sucks! That's all there is to it. It's like an awful omen of what the year ahead will be like. Drinking can't help that situation! It just depresses me to think about it.

During this time this year, I could not help but wonder quite a bit what Christmas was like at the "Cage House". I would love to know what Mr. Happy pants bought for his lovely young wife! And what in turn she bought for him with HIS money.

I bet little Kal-el was flooded with all kinds of things.(lucky kid indeed)

Not me.  I could think of no topic that would give me a stronger urge to fall on a pair of scissors to avoid hearing:

1.)  What the sexiest man on earth bought his wife (a HELL of a lot more than I'll ever get from anyone - and I've never known a man who cared enough about me to try anyway)

2.)  How much he must LOOOOOOOOOOVE his wonderful wife, and how he proved to her in SOOOOOOOOOO many ways how much he loved her, by showering her with gifts

3.)  What she did later to show her gratitude.

But, hey, maybe that's just me.

UGH! Since you put it that way, especially about the "gratitude" part, I think I could do without hearing about it too!

Call me a Grumpy Gertrude, but hearing about Alice's newfound bling-bling and that night's session of "D.B. Cooper and the Horny Stewardess" is NOT my idea of a great conversation.

Why do you torture yourself with such thoughts, Cheri?  Is there a particular kind of thrill that can only be had from exposing yourself to stories of men you'll never meet, giving gifts you'll never get to women who aren't you?  LMAO.
